We need more slop.

Rise Like a Phoenix. Austria won Eurovision. The committee has been attempting the key change in the office ever since.

Hello. We are Slopfest.

Quantity over quality since 1927. Now in a flat, responsive, retina-ready format.

The committee staged its own song contest with 34 entries, each of them a key change with no song attached. The jury was the whole audience and gave every act 12 points, producing a 34-way tie and a very long encore. Udo JΓΌrgens, Austria's 1966 winner, closed the night at a piano in his white bathrobe.

Pixel-perfect slop

Every pixel hand-placed by an intern, then nudged 1px to the left by the art director.

In the cloud

Our slop lives in the cloud. Nobody knows where the cloud is. Probably Floridsdorf.

Made with love

And jQuery. Mostly jQuery. Love is a jQuery plugin now, 212 KB minified.

Responsive

Resize your browser. Keep going. Wow. That is the whole feature.

Looks great on every device.*
*Tested on an iPhone 5s, a Nexus 4 and the KΓΌhlschrank display at the venue.

Cutting-edge slop tech: GANs

Invented this year. We were there. Well, we read about it.

A Generative Adversarial Network is two neural networks having an argument. The Generator makes slop. The Discriminator says β€œna geh, bitte”. They repeat this a few million times until the slop is convincing. It is basically our programme committee, but it runs on a GPU.

Experts say GAN images could one day be indistinguishable from photos. We say: why would you want that? This year we are showing the first GAN-generated face in Viennese festival history (right). Yes, that is a face. No, we don't know whose.

GANs: the future of slop?

Some researchers just invented Generative Adversarial Networks. We made a face with one. It is 10 pixels wide and has a third eye. We have never been more excited.
